Peony Flower Cultivation

Peonies famous for their beautiful flowers, peony leaf also produces beautiful and strong and large shrubs, ideal as a specimen of each, even in a small park. Genre incorporates dozens of herbaceous peony species of plants and shrubs, spread throughout the northern hemisphere, the peony is also present in the flora of Italy with several species of large purple and pink flowers, common in wooded areas and hilly.

Species that have been found in nurseries are not botanical species, but hybrids and cultivars, obtained from the intersection of a particular species of flower, peonies are generally divided into two main groups: herbaceous peonies and tree peonies. These plants are herbaceous, with gnarled roots, large, and during the months of spring from the roots to grow long stems bearing large serrated leaves are bright green, forming a large spherical clumps, which can reach 90-100 cm in height and amplitude. In late spring and summer foliage, slender upright stems bear large buds that will produce colorful flowers are large, usually in shades of pink.

There is a herbaceous peony flowers for single, double, stradoppio, red, pink, white, red wine. Cultivation of flowering plants is also easy, and untreated plants led to a remarkable flowering, facing a large tuber planted in good soil soft and fertile, well milled and mixed with a little sand and manure mature. Once the tubers are well positioned to ground water thoroughly, and check that it remains fresh and free of weeds.

The ideal location is a sunny, avoid placing plants in too dark or shady, why would tend not to bring flowers. From April to September the water regularly, the plant can withstand periods of drought, sometimes long, and prefer to be watered when dry soil is best provided, thus avoiding leaving the soil wet or moist longer, and water from time to time, intensifying the water supply during periods without rainfall.

When the leaves tend to grow in the spring, a mature sebarlah fertilizer around the plant, or a slow release granular fertilizer, especially for flowering plants. Periodically remove the flower fades, it can happen that the flowers are large enough to bend the shaft that drives them, you can work around this problem by placing mentors in the middle of clumps of leaves, make sure that the flower stem with a larger and heavier. In late summer stop watering can, and then we can cut the leaves of 15-20 centimeters Peony; next year the plant will begin to grow when it first warmth of spring.

Unlike herbaceous cousins tree peony, peony trees produce wood stem, branching well, which can reach 150-200 centimeters, peonies are losing their leaves in winter, leaving bare stems. In the nursery is a hybrid variety of Asia and Europe, the flowers are large, red, pink, yellow or white. In general, yellow or white-flowered varieties are among the most sought after. The leaves are large, serrated, dark green, branches that wrinkled and twisted, dark brown, with thin skin, which often broke into pieces. Even these peonies are not afraid of cold, and can find a place in the garden, in good rich soil, slightly acid, light and well drained.

They prefer a sunny or partially shaded: the more the climate is cooler and you can position our peonies in full sun. They are strong bush and rural areas, do not fear the cold, and even the drought and summer. In this period of drought the soil well watered, are always waiting for it to dry completely between water and others. Even the tree peonies do not require special care: periodic removed, dried flowers, at the end of flowering branches, we can shorten, old and rotten but we avoid drastic cuts, which often resulted in a lack of interest next season. Peonies are sectional peony varieties that have characteristics belonging to two other groups: dry during the winter really, but it produces a log and well branched in the summer.

The flowers are large and fragrant, with colors ranging from yellow to pink to red. Even this needs good light soil peonies and rich, and a sunny or partially shaded. Do not fear the cold. Some tips in general all the peony is a place in the sun, partial shade or in areas with hot summers, when placed in the shade are also less likely to generate interest. They can be used as individual specimens, but they are very well suited for creating borders, given the beauty of their foliage.

They do not require great attention, and that specimens are often completely left alone in the garden of an old abandoned house, continued from time to time to produce their beautiful flowers. Of course at the time of drought, watering and fertilizing with a fertilizer for flowering plants is slow release, will be practiced in the spring, leading to more abundant blooms. We can multiply our peonies or divide the roots tuberous root clumps and in this way in the autumn, we can get more plants from a single copy.

But remember that the plants so produced will tend to take several years to establish themselves well in the ground, and then normal for the plant which is obtained from the Division using at least two years before flowering abundantly. The same is true for newly planted plants: peonies do not like the transfer and infected every time you move a peony, planting or dividing ourselves, hoping to use at least two years to adapt to new conditions of cultivation. We can also obtain a new peony plant from seed, but because the market can be found almost exclusively hybrid, it is likely that the little seeds are fertile and that the plants produced from seed are not identical to the parent plant.
