Plant of Zodia



Zodia is native to Indonesia from Irian (Papua). By local residents of this plant used to repel insects, particularly mosquitoes when going off of Forestry, that is by rubbing their leaves to the skin.
In addition, plants that have a high between 50 cm to 200 cm (average 75cm), is believed to repel mosquitoes and other insects from around the plant. Therefore these plants, often grown in pots in the garden atupun to dispel the mosquitoes. The aroma released by the plant is quite fragrant Zodia. Usually the plants remove the smell if the plant so shaken by the wind among the leaves are rubbed together, came forth a fragrant aroma.
Today most people save zodia plants in pots indoors, so in addition to providing flavor, aroma also eliminate the mosquitoes from the room. However, it does not mean that later on in the room there were several carcasses of mosquitoes as because of this plant, because the mosquitoes were driven not just liked the smell of this plant.
 
Test Results
Zodia (Evodia suaveolens) belonging to the Rutaceae family, is said to contain evodiamine and rutaecarpine. From some of the literature, this plant is useful as an anti-cancer properties. According to the results of analysis conducted at the Research Institute for Spices and Medicinal Plants (IMACRI) by gas chromatography, the oil is distilled from the leaves of this plant contains linalool (46%) and a-pinene (13.26%) in which linalool is well known as a repellent (repellent) mosquitoes.

Propagation Method
This plant is easily propagated, is through seeds and cuttings of twigs. Usually when we already have plants that have flowered and seeded, the seeds will mature and grow around the plants.
