* Family: Asteraceae

* Genus: Chrysanthemum

* Species: C. morifolium Ramat, C. indicum, C. daisy etc.

BENEFITS OF PLANTS
Usability is a major chrysanthemum as ornamental flowers. Another benefit is as traditional medicinal plants and toxin-producing insects. As an ornamental flower, chrysanthemum is used as:

    1. Flower pots: Marked with the figure of a small plant, 20-40 cm tall, flowering dense and suitable to be planted in pots, polybags or other containers. Examples of mini chrysanthemum (small flower diameter) are varieties of Lilac Cindy (flower color purplefish ping), Pearl Cindy (reddish white), Cindy White (white with greenish white center), applause (bright yellow), Yellow Mandalay (all from the Netherlands). Chrysanthemum introduction of the widely planted flowering as flower pots, there are 12 varieties of potted chrysanthemums in Indonesia, the most planted varieties are the Delano (purple), Rage (red) and Time (yellow).
    2. Cut flower: Characterized by short-sized figure of interest to high, has a flower stalk length, the size varies (small, medium and large), are generally planted in the field and the results can be used as cut flowers. Examples of cut flowers very much, among others, Inga, Improved funshine, Brides, Green peas, Great Verhagen, Puma, Reagents, Cheetah, etc. Klondike.

CLIMATE
    1. Chrysanthemum plants need adequate water, but not resistant to exposure to rain water. Therefore, for high rainfall areas,
planting is done in house building plastic.
    2. For flowering requires a longer light that is with the help of light from fluorescent lamps and incandescent lamps. The addition of radiation is best between the hours of 22:30 to 01:00 midnight with the lights 150 watts to the area of 9 m 2 and lights installed at 1.5 m from ground level. Period lighting installation is done until the vegetative phase (2-8 weeks) to encourage the formation of flowers.
    3. The best air temperature for the tropics such as Indonesia is between 20-26 degrees C. Tolerant of air temperature to keep growing is 17-30 degrees C.
    4. Chrysanthemum plants require high humidity for the early formation of roots of seedlings, cuttings required 90-95%. Young plants to mature between 70-80%, balanced with adequate air circulation.
    5. CO2 levels in the wild around 3000 ppm. CO2 levels are ideal for spur fotosistesa between 600-900 ppm. In chrysanthemum cultivation in closed buildings, such as plastic house, greenhouse, CO2 can be added, until reaching the recommended levels.

GROWING MEDIA
    1. Land that is ideal for chrysanthemum is a sandy clay texture, fertile, loose and good drainage, does not contain pests and diseases.
    2. Good soil acidity for plant growth of about 5.5 to 6.7.
RAISING GUIDELINES
Nurseries
    1. Terms of Seeds: Seeds taken from healthy parent, excellent quality, strong ability to grow plants, free from pests and diseases and commercial markets.
    2. Preparation of Seeds: Nurseries chrysanthemums done in a way that is by vegetative tillers, shoot cuttings and tissue culture.
          1. Seedling tiller origin
          2. Shoot cuttings seedling origin: Determine the plants healthy and old enough. Select shoots that grow healthy shoots, base of 3-5 mm diameter, 5 cm long, has 3 adult leaves bright green, cut these shoots, Direct Seeding or stored in a cool room air temperature of 4 degrees C, with humidity of 30% for fixed resistant fresh for 3-4 weeks. Cuttings storage method is wrapped with several layers of tissue paper, then inserted into a plastic bag an average of 50 cuttings.

SEED SEEDING TECHNIQUE

1. Seeding in the tub: Prepare a place or land of nursery tanks measuring 80 cm wide, 25 cm depth, length and should be tailored to the needs of high-footed tub. Bak perforated for drainage of excessive. Seedlings of sand sterile medium until quite full. Seeding shoot cuttings with a distance of 3 cm x 3 cm and a depth of 1-2 cm, before it was implanted Rotoon (ZPT). After planting a pair of transparent plastic lid on the entire surface.

2. Seeding tissue culture: Seeds in a mini-bottle was transferred to sterile sand medium nursery Guang Yu Book Store and be covered opaque plastic.

 MEDIA PROCESSING PLANT

1. Formation of beds: Sports soil using hoes deep as 30 cm to loose, keringanginkan for 15 days. Gemburkan the second time as he cleared of weeds and form beds with a width of 100-120 cm, height 20-30 cm, length adapted to the land, the distance between beds 30-40 cm.

2. Calcification: The land that has a pH> 5.5, need to be given such calcification in the form of agricultural lime with dolomite, calcite, zeagro. Dosage depends on soil pH. Needs dolomite at pH 5 = 5.02 tons / ha, pH 5.2 = 4.08 tonnes / ha, pH 5.3 = 3.60 tonnes / ha, pH 5.4 = 3.12 tonnes / ha. Liming is done by spreading evenly on the surface of the beds.

PLANT MAINTENANCE
    1. Spacing and embroidery: stitching time as early as possible ie 10-15 days after planting. Stitching is done by replacing seedlings that died or permanent wilting with new seedlings.
    2. Weeding
    3. Irrigation and Watering: Watering is best in the morning or late afternoon, continuous irrigation, 1-2 times a day, depending on weather or growing medium.

How to care for Moon Orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis)

Moon Orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis) first discovered by a Dutch botanist, Dr. C.L. Blume.
These orchids are widespread ranging from Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Papua, up to Australia. How life in epiphyte with a stick on the trunk or branches of trees in the forests and grow fast up to 600 meters above sea level.

Orchid months included in the monopodial orchid plants that enjoy a little sunlight as a supporter of his life. The leaves are green with elongated shape. Roots are white and round and elongated fleshy feel. The flowers have little fragrance and long bloom time and can grow to a diameter of 10 cm more.

Orchid month belonged monopodial orchids. Orchids that grow upward from a single stem. Flowers of the month to grow orchids from the side of the stem downward. With appropriate treatment is highly resistant orchids month and not quickly wither. Even the flower stems that have fallen flowers, branches can grow new flowers. As an indoor ornamental plants, orchids months very charming. So no doubt, fans widespread. In Taiwan orchid hybrid was cultivated in industrial scale.

Some things to know about how to care orchid months:

1. Orchid months did not require full sun, only 20% only. So it needs shade. Shade can be the paranet. Ideal temperature required is 30o C during the day and 23O C at night. With a maximum of 70% humidity. If too wet perishable crops by fungi or bacteria. To determine the visual needs of the intensity of the sun can be seen from the color of its leaves. The leaves are green, indicating its intensity enough. While dark green, its intensity is less, and when excessive light intensity, then the leaves will brown because of fire.

2. Air circulation is needed. This means that wind gusts good enough for growing orchids months. The better air circulation in the nursery, the growth of orchid plants will be more good months. For the nursery or the maintenance of orchids in a poor air circulation, can be mounted fan. The function of this air circulation to flatten the temperature and humidity as well as quickly removing the heat nor too wet.
3. Watering was done twice a day. Could be enhanced three times a day, when the hot air. A good watering at 07.00 and 16.00 ~ ~ 09:00 18.00. Watering should direct towards the roots and use water that is clean, not contaminated with chemical waste.
    4. Protect is better than cure. This principle also applies in the care of orchids months. For that to keep pests and diseases, need to be spraying insecticide and fungicide once a week. Spraying should be done in the afternoon.
    5. Food, nutrition is also needed by the orchid months. Through regular fertilizing the growth of orchid plants in bloom will be excellent and diligent. Fertilizer is needed is a fertilizer that is rich in calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Fertilizer is routine every two weeks. Provision of fertilizer by fertilizer diluted first with water and then poured. It should also be added to foliar fertilizer in the spray manner.

Tips For Giving Flowers To Your Girlfriend

Are you looking for tips for giving flowers to your girlfriend? If so, as a retired florist, I think I can help. Guys used to come into our flower shop often asking what types of flowers are appropriate for giving to their girlfriend. But first of all, I congratulate you for thinking of sending flowers to a lucky girl in the first place.

The first consideration in selecting which flowers to buy for your girlfriend is the stage you are at in your relationship. Is this your first date or have you been going out for a few months or a few years? Are you buying flowers for a special occasion or just to say I love you or I'm thinking of you? Let me attempt to answer all these questions...

If you want to bring flowers or get flowers delivered to your girl before your first date, the best idea is to send a small mixed bouquet of seasonal flowers, nothing extravagant, just a pretty little bouquet. If you have been going out for a while, a medium or large mixed bouquet would be well appreciated. This bouquet could be wrapped in cello or in a vase depending on where you are bringing the flowers.

If you are sending the bouquet to her house or apartment you could bring or get a vase bouquet or a wrapped bouquet. If however you are bringing flowers on a date at a restaurant, you may want to bring an easy to carry bouquet in a vase or an arrangement in a keepsake cup or other type of container that she can keep to be reminded of you every time she sees it even after the flowers are dead. If your date will have you going to many places and you don't want her to have the hassle of dragging the flowers all across town, you can bring her a single rose or a corsage.

For the rose, whatever you do, don't bring her a red rose on a first date! This is way too heavy for a first encounter! Roses are the most symbolic of flowers. Every rose has a different meaning and you can definitely look into that to send the proper message. If you have been going out for a while and you do want to tell her you love her with flowers, by all means give her red roses. At the beginning of a relationship if you go with yellow roses for friendship or pink roses for joyfulness and appreciation, you will be safe. Make sure to get a water pick so the rose stays healthy all night. A corsage, specifically a wristlet corsage would be perfect if you are taking her at a dance or club. Again, don't make it too big as to scare her off if this is your first date.

Whether you want to send flowers to your girlfriend to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary you have a choice of sending a seasonal mixed bouquet in a vase or a bouquet of roses. However, the most important part of the flower gift giving process is the sentiment card you will attach to the bouquet. Try to write more than Happy Birthday with love, John or something of the kind. Something more like: You mean so much to me, thanks for being such a wonderful girlfriend or Looking forward to getting to know you better, I love spending time with you will be a much better hit.

Cultivation aspects of the Roses

Seeds. Rose seedlings can be propagated by stem cuttings, grafts, and the most popular is the grafting. Stem cuttings are used for rootstock and usually used as rootstock roses fence, because this species is quite strong, fast growing, resistant to pests and diseases easily propagated by cuttings.
Seedlings are shipped usually a result of grafting plants that have been outstanding for three months and a half year-old seedlings. When using the three-month-old seedlings of new plants obtained results after 6 months of planting. These seeds are imported form other than seeds scraped without media (stump), also can be a seed with artificial media, such roockwool. Half-year-old seedlings usually a stump, the seedlings without roots and no leaves. These seedlings can already be retrieved results after four months of planting by providing new branches about two-three main branches.

Land preparation and planting.
Sand, manure and garden soil are needed for the planting medium with a ratio of 1:2:1. Manure is given at the beginning of planting. Provision of super phosphate fertilizer base as much as 0:25 kg/m2 given 1-2 weeks before planting. If soil is too acidic you can add agricultural lime and as much as 2.5 kg/10 m2 when the soil is too alkaline can be added sulfur ¼ kg/10 m2. Manure is given as much as 75 tons / ha. Additional fertilizer NPK 50 kg / ha / bl. Provision of micro elements Fe, Mg and S can be given through the spray once a month.
Preparation begins with making the planting holes about 15 cm in diameter with a depth of 30 cm. Spacing depends on variety. Spacing Hybrid tea and floribunda type 100 cm x 60 cm, while the type Polyantha 40 cm x 60 cm. Some new varieties of cut rose flowers are planted with a distance of 31 cm x 31 cm or 38 cm, or 20 cm x 40 cm depending on the type of roses that are planted.
Installation of the protective form of shading net 50% done to avoid the high transpiration of young shoots. This protector can be opened after a four-week-old plants. For climbing plants can be made a pillar of the pergola.
Before planting, seeds are sterilized first in a fungicide solution, such as Benlate (0.5 g / l) during the one-two minutes. Planting is done by placing seeds in the center of the hole and cultivated for its roots spread in all directions and nothing is broken or bent. Once planting is completed in the form of sprinkler irrigation or drip can be installed and newly planted seedlings are watered until quite wet.

Maintenance Roses
Establishment of Young Plants. Formation of roses is done by cutting / pinching. This is intended to maintain the plant in order to stay young, so it always produces new shoots productive flowering. From the new shoots which emerged five weeks after planting will appear small and interest will be cut. Soft pinch performed on young shoots, aiming to maximize vegetative growth. Will a new shaft with a reddish color will grow out of the branches of seedlings or shoots from the first branch. These shoots allowed to grow long into adulthood and after going to the flower color will be immediately removed (pinching performed on the old shoots is known as a hard pinch).
Brending is done when the seedlings are old branch. Place stems should
brending about 5-10 cm from the base of the stem. To help brending for not re-erect shoots the shoots can be attached with a piece of bamboo that is attached to the parts of the ground. From this brending shoots sometimes grow a small bud of the bud of new and small when it came out of interest then this interest should be discarded and leaves cut as many as two true leaves (five leaves) for plants have many leaves.
New shoots which is a production of shoots that will emerge after several weeks of doing. At harvest, shoots are cut by leaving a 3-4T true leaf. Of the shoots that have been harvested after approximately 10 days will generally appear two or three new buds and will bloom after about 6-7 weeks. From this production shoots subsequently harvested by leaving two true leaves.

Trimming. The purpose of pruning to maintain shape of the plant to obtain a solid rod, encourage flowering, rejuvenation of plants, produce new shoots that high productivity, and maintain the plant to remain healthy and live longer.

Pruning is done is a light pruning (30%) with a little trim tops of the rose bush, so as to produce many flowers but small. Trimming medium (50%) done by trimming the branches or shoots, but not too long. Usually done on the types of floribunda and Polyantha. While heavy pruning done in an old trunk and plants that have been severely affected by diseases carried by pruning all branches to a height of 60 cm or leave the two-three eyes of each stem.
The best pruning time is shortly after the rainy season ends, because at that time generally fertile plants in the state with the formation of irregular branches and twigs. Prune once a year.

Fertilization. Provision of fertilizer for roses hanging from analysis of soil to be planted, so that every garden / growers have rules different fertilization. Plant roses need to be nurtured as much as 5 grams of NPK per plant at the age of one-two weeks after planting. Fertilization can then be given once a month depending on plant growth.
